2013 sees the release of signed limited graphics five years on from the debut publications from this critically acclaimed collection.

Widely recognised as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Dylan continues to provide fans with an insight into the mind of one of the most creative minds of our time. This year’s release comes in a year when Bob Dylan is more popular than ever, having recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2012 the highest award available to a civilian, recognising an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavours.

This new collection comprises of eleven images featuring six never before published titles from ‘The Drawn Blank Series’ as well as vivid new interpretations of some of his most iconic works. The 2013 release includes 6 ‘standard format’ pieces, 4 ‘medium’, and one very special large piece depicting the now iconic ‘Train Tracks’ image. Bob Dylan is one of the most influential figures in the music world of the last five decades. Over the last forty-eight years he has released forty-six albums and written over five hundred songs including 'Blowin' in the Wind', 'The Times They Are A-Changin', and 'Make You Feel My Love'. Selling over 110 million records around the world, his songs have been covered more than three thousand times by artists as diverse as Sonny and Cher, The Byrds, the Rolling Stones, Duke Ellington, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Jarrett, Guns N' Roses, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, Pearl Jam and Neil Young.

In 2008 a collection of Bob Dylan's drawings and sketches, made while on a tour of America, Europe and Asia between 1989 and 1992, were exhibited and the collection became aptly named 'The Drawn Blank Series'.

We're delighted to announce the forthcoming launch of 'Revisionist Art', a hand signed collection of limited edition silkscreens on canvas and paper from Bob Dylan.

In 1965 Bob Dylan picked up an electric guitar and changed the face of rock and roll music forever. In 2014 he challenges our perception of him as an artist.

Dylan has never been afraid to defy his audience – many times he has left them struggling to keep up. He left behind the protest songs and swapped his acoustic guitar for an electric one, bewildering many of his fans. But none of this ever seems to concern Dylan, his eyes are firmly fixed on the road ahead, never looking back.

In 2008 Dylan captivated the world with the Drawn Blank Series. Revisionist Art could not be any more different. This collection reveals a hard-edged, conceptual form of art that boldly displays the Dylan-esque artistic intelligence fully at work. Bob Dylan is once again showing us the world as he sees it, and he challenges us to come along for the ride.

With Revisionist Art Dylan looks to re-evaluate and re-contextualise things that we have known and maybe taken for granted. It can satirise, it can parody, and it can also seek truths that were missed or even hidden the first time around. It aims to shine a light in the face of passive acceptance and make the audience pause and think again.

Bob Dylan Drawn Blank Series 2011

Castle Galleries Newcastle are delighted to announce that there will be a brand new release of work from the Bob Dylan 'Drawn Blank Series' this month.

Whilst travelling on tour between 1989 and 1992, Bob Dylan created a collection of drawings that were published in a book entitled 'Drawn Blank' in 1994. These expressive works capture Dylan's chance encounters and observations. The creation of these portraits, interiors, landscapes, still lifes, nudes and street scenes were done to "relax and refocus a restless mind".


Each edition is published in a limited number of no more than 295 copies worldwide. All are printed on Hahnemühle Museum Etching or Innova Soft Texture paper, certificated and personally signed by the artist.
 
For those of you who are farmiliar with Bob's work you will know that this is not an opportunity to be missed. Previous releases have seen certain images sell out in minutes so if you have any interest in any of these images please do not hesitate to contact us here at the gallery.
