New for Autumn from Castle Galleries Newcastle!

It is with great pleasure that we are contacting you with news of our newest releases for August. This preview of our autumn collection includes two bold and vibrant boxed canvases from Queens of Colour; Louise Dear and Sarah Graham. Paul Kenton, one of our touring artists this autumn, brings us seven lively and energetic cityscapes crossing the pond from London to New York. .

Following the ‘sell-out’ debut collection that allowed many of our collectors to re-visit their childhood memories, we present an exciting and adventurous new collection that features the most sought after Batman theme from Craig Davison. These new pieces are bound to cause a stir amongst collectors, with many pre-ordering to ensure they don’t miss out! The collection consists of four brand new images which are available both on paper and on canvas and can be purchased as a matching set for a limited time only. In addition to this, we are offering a free limited edition print with each set sold whilst they remain available – which we don’t anticipate to be very long. If you want to be one of those lucky people to own such a collection, act immediately or miss out!

Sarah Graham, one of our most popular artists, never fails to delight with her bright, fresh work. This august, we see her return with ‘Sweet Temptations’ and ‘Top Of The Pops’, pieces that we are sure will chase away those rainy blues and brighten up any home. The same can be said of Shazia, with her endearing characters that can bring a smile to any face. We’d like to introduce to you ‘Flanna’ and 'Marjolene', we’re sure you are going to love them!

Louise Dear returns with a fabulous collection of flirty images that are guaranteed to be a success – ‘What Now My Love (Hot)’ and ‘Love (At Sunset)’and Paul Kenton presents his ‘Cities In Motion’ collection, in his unique style. Fresh and funky, these pieces are sure to grab your eye!

The full collection will be available to view in our gallery from Saturday 20th August but we are taking pre orders against items NOW to avoid disappointment. We are expecting a phenomenal response to this new release of work, especially the Craig Davison and Shazia pieces as demand for their work is incredible. Elephant Parade London 2010

The UK’s biggest ever outdoor art exhibition – The Elephant Parade - is currently in full swing in and around London with 258 brightly coloured life sized baby elephants adorning the streets of our capital city in aid of raising money to save the Asian Elephant from extinction in the wild.

Six of these wonderful elephants have been painted by our very own talented artists – Peter Smith, Louise Dear, Paul Kenton, John D Wilson, Alexander Millar & Jeff Rowland.

These elephants will be in 2 different locations from now until 3rd July 2010 for the public to see and enjoy so if you’re in London over the coming weeks why not go and say hello. You can also bid for any of these elephants and make them a permanent feature in your garden or house whilst helping a worthwhile cause.
To view all of our baby elephants or for further information on where to see them in person; or simply to see just how talented our artists are.  CLICK HERE

Alternatively work by these wonderful artists on canvas, rather than elephants, is available to view and buy from the gallery now.

The photo's of Jeff Rowland and his Elephant 'Lover' where taken here in our gallery in Newcastle.

Introducing Louise Dear

Here at Castle Galleries Newcastle we are very excited to introduce to you a fantastic new artist - Louise Dear! Her paintings are very much a celebration of the female form. Her pictures are about women feeling lush and gorgeous and free and she hopes that every woman who views her work can relate to that. Louise initially embarked on a career within the fashion industry having studied fashion design at Medway College of Art & Design which brought her into contact with the burgeoning Young British Artists. It was here that her passion for art came into blossom. At the age of 21 she purchased a 1963 Bedford Ambulance with her partner, painted it honey pink and then set off travelling around the world!

'Yum Yum'
Signed Limited edition by Louise Dear

Throughout her travelling she soaked up inspiration from all corners of the globe travelling around Europe, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, North Africa and South East Asia. She eventually arrived in Australia, took root and became an exhibition designer. In 1993 she came back to England and gave birth to her daughter - Lama - on whom alot of her creations are based (see the image below)

'Crush II'
Limited Edition of 150

Louise is very passionate about colour which is apparent to anyone viewing her work. She uses it in a very vibrant and intense way and is continually exploring the power it has to invade people's senses and influence their emotions.

Here at Castle Galleries Newcastle we are very excited about these new releases, so much so that we have decided to dedicated our front window to her work. We have had two girls here at the gallery this week, Lauren and Caitlin, and they have been learning the in's and out's of gallery life. They have created between them a fantastic display in our window as shown in the photographs below.

Lauren said this about the window: " I helped to paint the lips and the writing in the window. I feel that the window has worked very well. I really like Louise's work, it is extremely colourful and I think that it can change the atmosphere of a room.

This week has been very eventful and exhausting with an addition of coming home with aching feet. I have mastered the skill of using the tape gun and how to source items to use for the window display.

Caitlin had this to say: " I thoroughly enjoyed painting the lips. First we painted the outline of the lips and then Lauren painted the white detailing. We then both contributed to painting the pink section. The stripes were created in the window by masking off certain sections with tape and then painting in between the gaps.

This week has been exhausting with alot of being on your feet and heavy lifting, but we have learned alot like how to wrap a painting, how to approach a customer and how to send a selling email.

Lauren and Caitlin have been a welcome addition to the gallery and we are very proud of the window display they have created. It has attracted alot of attention and is bringing alot of people into the gallery.
