We're delighted to announce the forthcoming launch of 'Revisionist Art', a hand signed collection of limited edition silkscreens on canvas and paper from Bob Dylan.

In 1965 Bob Dylan picked up an electric guitar and changed the face of rock and roll music forever. In 2014 he challenges our perception of him as an artist.

Dylan has never been afraid to defy his audience – many times he has left them struggling to keep up. He left behind the protest songs and swapped his acoustic guitar for an electric one, bewildering many of his fans. But none of this ever seems to concern Dylan, his eyes are firmly fixed on the road ahead, never looking back.

In 2008 Dylan captivated the world with the Drawn Blank Series. Revisionist Art could not be any more different. This collection reveals a hard-edged, conceptual form of art that boldly displays the Dylan-esque artistic intelligence fully at work. Bob Dylan is once again showing us the world as he sees it, and he challenges us to come along for the ride.

With Revisionist Art Dylan looks to re-evaluate and re-contextualise things that we have known and maybe taken for granted. It can satirise, it can parody, and it can also seek truths that were missed or even hidden the first time around. It aims to shine a light in the face of passive acceptance and make the audience pause and think again.

Here at Castle Galleries Newcastle we are deeply honoured to be able to reveal to you exclusively, the brand new ‘Drawn Blank Series 2011’ release. There are 8 brand new pieces available to purchase, all of which are standard size with the paper measuring 27.5” by 22”, the same as previous releases of work and each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity to verify the piece.

Each piece is a limited edition of 295 and has been personally hand signed by Bob Dylan himself.

BOB DYLAN - 70TH BIRTHDAY

 Castle Galleries are excited to be offering a special promotion on all Bob Dylan's works, this week only, to celebrate Bob Dylan turning 70 on the 24th of May.

Bob Dylan is one of the most influential figures in the music world of the last five decades. Over the last forty-eight years he has released forty-six albums and written over five hundred songs including 'Blowin' in the Wind', 'The Times They Are A-Changin', and 'Make You Feel My Love'. Selling over 110 million records around the world, his songs have been covered more than three thousand times by artists as diverse as Sonny and Cher, The Byrds, the Rolling Stones, Duke Ellington, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Jarrett, Guns N' Roses, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, Pearl Jam and Neil Young.

In 2008 a collection of Bob Dylan's drawings and sketches, made while on a tour of America, Europe and Asia between 1989 and 1992, were exhibited and the collection became aptly named 'The Drawn Blank Series'.

In July this year we were proud and excited to bring you the Bob Dylan 'Drawn Blank Series 2009' collection to Castle Galleries Newcastle. The response to this was unprecedented for our gallery not just regionally but from around the globe. We are delighted to say that after months of negotiations we are bringing to Newcastle the full collection of 'The Drawn Blank Series' so far. This includes the full 2008 collection of 29 graphics and the full 2009 collection of 8 graphics.
