Introducing...Nic Joly

Meet exciting new artist Nic Joly.

With a background in furniture building and design Nic began creating miniature toys as a hobby to entertain his children. This has now developed into a full time job as Nic sculpts miniature figurines frozen in small-scale narratives, showcasing his dark sense of humor.

I see my sculptures as pieces of theatre to get lost in, framed feelings, thoughts, imaginings, and observations.
Nic Joly

The figures Nic creates are hand made using wire, thread, clay, paper and paint. They are then placed into a scene often incorporating everyday objects, be it a hollowed out light bulb, a cigarette or a gun.

The three dimensional editions created for this collection were created by using the lost wax process to cast the figures in bronze from an original, then painted. Then are then framed personally by Nic himself. Nic has been in complete control of these three dimensional editions, making them truly special.

The first Delivery - July 08

Making use of the empty space beside the gallery whilst final touches were made, we assessed our fabulous artwork. Planning our opening exhibition was very exciting, we looked at our artist's work with fresh eyes, imagining where we would hang pieces and place sculpture. We were anxious to be in and get going, little did we know the final push would be upon us sooner than we thought.
